The International Society of Automation (ISA) is a non-profit professional association founded in 1945 to create a better world through automation. ISA advances technical competence by connecting the automation community to achieve operational excellence. The organization develops widely used global standards; certifies industry professionals; provides education and training; publishes books and technical articles; hosts conferences and exhibits; and provides networking and career development programs for its 40,000 members and 400,000 customers around the world.
ISA is eager to identify a visionary executive who is prepared to build upon the current successes of the Association. The successful candidate will serve as the Executive Director of ISA, leading the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors, and overseeing the operations and activities of the Association. Critical to the Executive Director’s success is the maintenance of a strong working relationship with Society’s officers.
This individual will demonstrate a decisive, yet collaborative leadership style along with an entrepreneurial drive, a passion for business success, and exemplary communication skills. They will bring a track record of innovative and strategic leadership experience in an international and multi-faceted institution with varied internal and external constituencies and stakeholders.
The Executive Director must be an inspiring and inclusive leader, with the ability to motivate staff, volunteers, and stakeholders across all areas that ISA touches. This person will bring an effective and innovative approach in partnering with the Board and senior management team. This person will be highly approachable, an engaging speaker and eager listener. They will be a natural team builder, bringing energy, optimism, and a drive to lead ISA into the future. The individual should have experience leading an international organization, including balancing the needs and expectations of regional entities to achieve a common implementation of the strategy.
The Executive Director will have demonstrated a high level of achievement in developing and implementing strategy, building the financial, operational, and ideological support for its implementation while skillfully balancing and aligning the needs of multiple interests. They should have experience managing institutional transition and be energized by the prospect of implementing and building on ISA’s strategy for the future.
- Establish and advance ISA’s relevance and credibility as the home of automation by anticipating industry needs, collaborating with stakeholders, and developing and delivering pertinent technical content
- Enhance member value and expand engagement opportunities to nurture and grow a more diverse and global community to advance the automation profession
- Become the recognized leader in automation and control education, providing training, certifications, and publications to prepare the workforce to address technology challenges in the most flexible and relevant ways
- Create opportunities for members to improve critical leadership skills, to build a network of industry professionals, and to develop the next generation of automation professionals
